Hi

I am a memberr of Epsom Camera Club, where Ian was judging last night, so I took a card and thought i'd join.

I started photography in the 70s with a darkroom built in my Dad's shed and a Zenit E camera (if that means anything to anybody). And was a member of Crawley Camera Club. I gave up photography when a family came along and we needed all of the space and money we had to bring up our kids.

I was bought my first Digital camera for my 50th (7 years ago) and within a few months my love of photography had been re-ignited. Plus it is so simple to get a decent print from a computer as opposed to a whole evening in the darkroom to produce one dodgy black and white effort.

This is the first on line club I have  been a member of, so forgive any glaring errors that may occur I am not even sure this message will actually end up anywhere. Anyway here goes I guess I just press the POST button.

Hi Graham
On behalf of Release I'd like to welcome you to our happy band of image makers and enthusiasts who enjoy looking at our site, jotting down their thoughts and making new friends. I look forward to your participation as and when you wish to delve in.
From the site I'm sure you cab see how the format runs and how we try to be proactive.
We try not to be too serious and have a good banter going across the waters that seperate us.
Best wishes

Hello Graham,

Welcome to the Release on-line community.

I do hope you enjoy looking at the work here.  You are also invited to
comment on the work.  You don't need to make extensive comments but
it is really helpful to people who exhibit their work to know what others think.

You may be interested that we will have a new Image of the Month appearing
in the next couple of days.  This is always selected to encourage debate.  In
addition we will have panels from Ian and myself from our East Anglia trip
coming up in the next week or so.

Do enjoy your Release membership.

Hi there Graham

Welcome to the happy band. Yes, I remember the dreaded Zenith E very well because I had one at one time and had a Zorki at the same time. They were truly awful, in fact I always said that I had no fears of the Russians because based on the quality of their cameras, their tanks would never make it further west than Berlin. Having said that, I wouldn't mind having them back again. With the experience of many years since,it might be interesting to see what I could do with them now.
Funny you should mention that digital has rekindled your interest. I had exactly the same experience and I also agree wholeheartedly with you about the inkjet/darkroom thing. I know I might be frowned on for saying this but there is a lot of satisfaction in seeing a nice print come off the printer, knowing as one does, that it is all one's own work. A lot more satisfaction than spending hours in a darkroom only to produce excellent waste bin stuff.
Nice to have you aboard and looking forward to your contributions.
